site is currently managed by W.M.Low & Partners, a firm of advocates and solicitors practising in Singapore.
Currently,
divorce proceedings in Singapore are filed electronically through
law firms, or for litigants in person, through the service bureau. The parties are named as Plaintiff and Defendant with effect from 1st April 2006.
Prior to
instituting divorce proceedings, a litigant should exhaust various
options open to them, including seeking counselling through qualified
counsellors.
It is in the parties' interest to resolve the issues
early, so that the impact on the children will be lessen. The legal costs will also be much more manageable, and parties can move on with their lives without being engaged in acrimonious and unneccessary allegations against each other. In the situation
where an amicable resolution is not possible, then the litigants
should collate evidence that are relevant and of weight early, thus enabling their counsels to
present and advance their case in an effective and efficient manner.
