WM Low has been in active practice since he was called to the bar in March 1992. Prior to setting up W.M Low & Partners, he was practising in M/s Khattar Wong & Partners, one of the big four law firms in Singapore.
WM Low did his Secondary and A Levels education at Raffles Institution and Raffles Junior College respectively. He is conversant in Mandarin and other dialects. He is able to draft documents in mandarin and liaise with lawyers from China and other jurisdiction with ease. He also has a CMT qualification issued by MTA, USA, and passed an examination on Arbitration Law & Practice conducted by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Singapore Institute of Arbitrators in 1994.
WM Low was previously on the Legal Assistance Scheme for Capital Offences (“LASCO”) in 1994 and Legal Aid Assistance Scheme, and acted in various pro bono matters in family matters. He has been actively involved in criminal as well as family cases.
WM Low is one of the pioneer batches of lawyers who had incorporated technology into legal practice.
Divorce.com.sg and divorce.sg were registered in 2003. Likewise we registered familylaw.com.sg and familylawyer.sg in 2003 to better serve those of our clients with matrimonial issues.
He was invited by the Chief Justice to sit on the Inquiry Panel in 2015.
WM Low has dealt with experts from HSA on cases involving alleged forgery of documents and on issues involving whether the handwritten signatures were genuine or otherwise. He is familiar with fraud committed by a spouse, in breach of Computer Misuse Act, Penal Code, Harassment Act, Miscellanous Offence Act etc. He is familiar with various assets class tracing in view of his CMT background, whether the same are bonds, equities, currencies or commodities.
His experience in this area of work has enabled him to deal with both contested and uncontested divorce matters.
He has conducted various contested maintenance summons trials, personal protection orders applications successfully, and likewise defended numerous number of such applications well. He has conducted with good results various hearings for ancilliaries matters, child custody hearings and other applications.
In a recent decision, he has successfully obtained care and control for two boys for a husband who travelled for work overseas few times a month, against a housewife.
In another matter, an unreported case, he managed to secure a lumpsum maintenance of $2.48m for a housewife. He has acted successfully for various high net worth clients.
He has acted for Australians, British, Chinese, French, Hong Kong citizens, Indonesian, Japanese, Taiwanese, USA, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Myanmar and even a Peruvian Nationality. He understands the intricacy of cross borders dispute, relocation and other access issues, including tracing assets such as ships owned by a party.
